“The last thing you want in life is a map, because a map only shows you what others have seen before you.” - Joe Frank

These are ancient routes, traversed, inhabited, and held sacred for millennia by indigenous people. They are routes that led early explorers to and through some of the grandest sites the world has to offer. They are routes of turmoil, barbarism, and death. The grandeur and complex history of this country need no hyperbole. Leaving your present day driveway behind, there are over four million miles of road in the United States. This gives us the opportunity to move about the west like no generation before us.
